Pretty in Pink: A Bridesmaid Dress

After the initial trying on of a bridesmaid dress, it's expected that you choose the colour from a swatch of fabric to go along with the style of dress your bride chose (unless you were so fortunate as to be able to choose what style you wanted!) But instead of the habit of off-the-rack that we are accustom to, walking out the door with something in your arms as proof of your purchase, it's customary to walk out the door with nothing but a higher credit card statement and a long wait until the dress arrives.

Just like the bride, it gives you plenty to worry about (not to mention when said bride is having nightmares you show up in a canary yellow dress and completely throw off her wedding, no pressure or anything.) You worry about if the size is going to fit properly, if you'll gain weight in the two month waiting period, or if the colour is going to come out right. Then when you do receive the dress you need to worry about if it will need to be altered. Most salons and dress manufacturers have these concerns taken care of and rarely have issues, but that doesn't always lighten my thoughts on the process.

Apparently I worry too much, even when I am familiar with the manufacturing process.

So for two months I worried, along with the bride, that everything would go right, and thank heavens it did.

It came 10 weeks before the wedding which gave me plenty of time for alterations, making sure my shoes are perfect and giving me enough time for a couple of trial hair-do's.

Now I can sleep better at night with this little dress tucked away in the back of my closet, minus the slightly higher credit card statement upon receiving the dress. At least I know it's helping the bride catch a few more minutes every night that she doesn't wake up to me wearing a yellow dress!

Only two more dresses until the bridal party is complete and the colour gradient of bridesmaids is complete! Stay tuned in the next couple of months for more bridesmaid updates (I still have another whole outfit to receive!)
